Overview

The Hansa C16C is a petrol wood chipper for processing branches and woody garden or grounds-maintenance material up to 110mm in diameter. Its 16 HP B&S Vanguard engine drives a 50kg cutting disc through a twin-belt drive, while the gravity-fed, self-feeding inlet helps draw material into the cutting system. A 270° swivel outlet chute lets the operator direct the discharged woodchip where it is needed, such as towards a suitable collection point or stockpile. With its substantial chipping capacity, the C16C is suited to demanding work on larger properties, estates and grounds where there is regular woody material to process. Chipping and discharge

The C16C uses two knives working against an adjustable hardened anvil in a scissor-like cutting action. The gravity-fed, self-feeding arrangement is designed to draw suitable material into the machine, and the inlet opening measures from 170 x 220mm to a maximum of 553 x 405mm.

The 270° swivel outlet chute gives the operator a choice of discharge direction. Its outlet is 1,485mm high, helping direct chip away from the machine towards a suitable receiving area. The specified chip size is 10–20mm; actual output can depend on the material being processed.

Engine and operating considerations

The petrol engine is a B&S Vanguard unit rated at 16 HP / 11.8 kW maximum power. It starts by recoil and uses 91 unleaded petrol. The fuel tank holds 8 litres. The stated engine oil grade is SAE 10W30 or SAE 10W40, with an oil fill of 1.4 litres.

The C16C weighs 237kg and measures 1,345 x 650 x 1,635mm. Its noise figures are 94 dB(A) operator sound pressure and 109 dB(A) guaranteed sound power, so consider the working location and appropriate hearing protection when planning operation.

Hansa warranty

Standard Hansa machine warranty from purchase is 12 months for domestic use, 12 months for commercial use excluding hire, or 3 months for commercial hire.

Eligible domestic and commercial non-hire customers may qualify for extended cover of up to 36 months total or 1,000 hours, whichever occurs first. The machine must be purchased from an authorised Hansa dealer and registered by serial number within 10 days of purchase. Scheduled servicing must be carried out by a Hansa dealer in accordance with the relevant manual using genuine Hansa parts, with service and maintenance records retained.
