Overview

The EGO BCX4500 is a professional cordless brush cutter and line trimmer designed for demanding vegetation maintenance. Its brushless motor, carbon-fibre shaft and variable-speed control support adaptable operation, while the tool-free auxiliary handle and supplied double shoulder harness help the operator manage the machine during use. The BCX4500 is compatible with EGO 56V ARC Lithium™ portable batteries. It has a 45cm line-trimmer cutting head and is also compatible with metal brush-cutter blades, including a three-sided steel blade available as an accessory. Adaptable cutting for demanding work

The BCX4500 can be used for line trimming or configured for brush-cutting with a compatible metal blade. Its 45cm line-trimmer head provides a broad working width for grass and vegetation maintenance; EGO recommends 2.0–2.4mm line for grass and light vegetation, and 2.4–3.0mm line for heavier, denser vegetation.

The listed supplied line diameter is 2.4mm. The manual wind bump-feed head advances line when the head is bumped, while variable speed lets the operator adjust the machine's running speed to suit the task.

Controls and operator equipment

Stepless speed adjustment gives the operator a choice of working speed, with no-load settings of 3,500, 4,500 and 5,200rpm. Soft-start provides a gradual start-up, and the interface displays battery and speed information across three indicator levels.

The auxiliary handle adjusts without tools, and a double shoulder harness is supplied. The 183cm overall length and anti-clockwise rotation are useful details to consider when assessing handling and operating requirements.

Battery compatibility and runtime

The BCX4500 works with EGO 56V ARC Lithium™ portable batteries. EGO's stated runtime figures vary by battery and operating head, so they are best treated as maximum reference times rather than guaranteed working durations.

For example, EGO quotes up to 140 minutes with the brush-cutter head or 75 minutes with the trimmer head using a BA2800T 5Ah battery. With a BA5600T 10Ah battery, the stated figures are up to 300 minutes and 155 minutes respectively. Actual runtime depends on the working conditions and chosen setup.

EGO manufacturer warranty

EGO provides a five-year domestic warranty and a three-year professional warranty for the BCX4500, subject to the manufacturer's applicable warranty terms. The separate domestic and professional periods are relevant for customers choosing equipment for commercial grounds maintenance.
