Overview

The EGO BCX3800 is a professional cordless brush cutter and line trimmer designed for demanding vegetation maintenance. Its carbon-fibre drive tube, solid steel drive shaft and brushless motor combine with a choice of cutting heads to handle different tasks: use the 30cm three-sided steel blade for brush-cutting or the 38cm dual-line trimmer head for grass and lighter vegetation. Variable-speed control and a soft-start function give the operator control over the tool’s operation. The supplied bike handle and AHP1500 hip pad support a balanced working position, while the tool is designed to work with compatible EGO backpack battery or harness systems for extended professional use.

Two cutting options for professional vegetation work

Fit the three-sided steel blade for brush-cutting, with a 30cm cutting width. For grass and lighter vegetation, the dual-line trimmer head provides a wider 38cm cutting width and uses 2.4mm line. The trimmer head has a manual wind bump-feed line system.

The different head configurations also have different published weights and noise ratings: 6.5kg with the brush-cutter head and 6.8kg with the trimmer head. Noise ratings are 83dB(A) LpA / 98dB(A) LwA with the brush-cutter head, and 74dB(A) LpA / 96dB(A) LwA with the trimmer head.

Control and working setup

The variable-speed trigger allows the operator to vary speed while working, while soft-start provides a gradual start-up. The bike handle gives a two-handed operating position, and the supplied AHP1500 hip pad is an attachment for a compatible harness system.

The BCX3800 is designed for use with EGO backpack battery or harness systems. Compatible portable-battery harnesses include the BH1000, BHX1000 and BHX2001. EGO states that its 56V ARC Lithium™ batteries work across the EGO Power+ 56V tool range, including PRO X tools.
