Overview

The EGO STX4200 is a professional-grade PRO X cordless line trimmer for cutting grass and vegetation along edges, around obstacles and in areas that are difficult to reach with a mower. Its 42cm cutting head, brushless motor and carbon-fibre shaft combine practical working width with a lightweight 3kg tool body, while the front-mounted direct-drive motor delivers power to the cutting head.

Key Features

• 42cm cutting width with a dual-line Rapid Reload bump-feed head.
• Brushless motor and carbon-fibre shaft.
• Variable speed control with stepless adjustment from 4,000 to 6,000rpm.
• Three-speed battery and speed indicator interface.
• Compatible with EGO 56V ARC Lithium portable batteries.
• Up to 235 minutes' runtime with a 10Ah BA5600T battery when using the trimmer head.
• Five-year domestic and three-year professional EGO warranty, subject to applicable terms.

Cutting performance and control

The 42cm head covers a broad swathe with each pass, making the STX4200 useful for maintaining larger gardens, grounds and professional sites. Its manual-wind bump-feed head advances line when tapped against the ground, and the dual-line arrangement provides two cutting ends.

Variable speed control adjusts the motor between 4,000 and 6,000rpm, so the operator can match the cutting speed to the task. A three-speed battery and speed indicator interface provides an at-a-glance view of operating information. The supplied line diameter is specified as 2.4mm.

Design and operation

A brushless motor and front-mounted direct drive power the cutting head, while the carbon-fibre shaft helps keep the tool body weight to 3kg. The auxiliary handle adjusts without tools, and a strap is specified for the trimmer. Soft start supports a gradual start-up.

Battery compatibility and runtime

The STX4200 works with EGO 56V ARC Lithium portable batteries, part of the shared battery platform for EGO Power+ tools, including PRO X. Battery runtime depends on the battery selected and working conditions. With the trimmer head, EGO quotes up to 68 minutes using a 2.5Ah BA1400T, up to 130 minutes with a 5Ah BA2800T, and up to 235 minutes with a 10Ah BA5600T. These are manufacturer maximum figures for the stated battery and head combinations.

Warranty

EGO specifies a five-year domestic warranty and a three-year professional warranty for the STX4200, subject to the manufacturer's applicable warranty terms.
